same route time, same route channel

dreamshipOnce upon a time, exactly two years and seven days ago, Route became a Thing. It was this weird cluster of ideas that started with "HEY OKAMI, YOU KNOW WHAT WOULD BE COOL? A POKEMON JAMJAR." and "OMG ANIKI LET'S DO IT." It was this beautiful, lazy two month project of writing and planning and using every pokéresource on the planet, until finally, Route 29 was made.
Advertisement was simple. A drop of the word here, a hint there, a troll comment giggling inappropriately over the mod account. And then people were interested. Questions were asked - more questions were asked - even more questions were asked, GUYS WE HAD A BOATLOAD OF QUESTIONS THE DAY THE FAQ WENT UP OKAY but it was beautiful and lovely and people seemed excited!
The idea? Maybe twenty muns, thirty if we were lucky! After all, all the other pokémon games were tiny, and all of them died. (That was sad.) Surely, no one would want to join a pokémon jamjar, especially since everyone and Mom was getting annoyed with the overwhelming amount of jamjars.
Well you know what? We have pikachus in our jamjar, yeah, that'll show 'em.
...and it did. Oops.
So, deciding on the twenty-second of May, we opened reserves. Of course, we didn't just normally open them - we just kind of said "May 22" and then realized "OH SHIT PEOPLE ARE ACTUALLY TRYING TO RESERVE AT MIDNIGHT." Our first reserver? Roxas-mun, Megan over there. HI MEGAN!! /waves. Why I remember that? IDK. I think I was just really, really excited.
Anyhoo. On the morn' of that day, after I slept some, I dragged my little patootie over to the computer and counted down that twenty-something minutes until reserves and applications opened.
Half an hour later? A good fifty reserves.
An hour later? Over a hundred.
End of the day? ....shit, I dunno.
But I was scaaaared out of my mind.
Needless to say, we did apps twice, with a good hundred-plus around during the start of the game. After a bit of a time-constraint, I was up til a bright and shiny 6:30 AM doing apps. And, since our poor Okami had to be at work around the same time I went to bed, I got to wake up at a shiny 10:30 to actually open the game!
Thankfully, a player made a little welcome post, which we used for the first three weeks during MASS WAVE OF CHARACTERS, HOLY CRAP.

and then Sunny found out that HeartGold and SoulSilver were coming out that summer so everyone was already excited.
JUST AS KEIKAKU?
....YEAAAHHHH.
But it was still beautiful, and the game was full of bumps and bruises, lots of trainers coming in and out, but you know what?

I STILL CANNOT CONTAIN MY FEELINGS

I never expected to mod a game this large. Hell, I never expected to mod a game at all! But even with all of the ups and downs, the Duskulls and Ho-Ohs, the Haunters Haunting and the Growlithes Growling...
I really wouldn't trade it for the world.
Actually that's a lie. I'd trade it for living in Violet City and being Falkner's prodigy. NEGL I will drop all of you if I could just battle with birds all day DON'T JUDGE ME
We've gone through a good number of mods, techies, assistants, helpers, volunteers, random aids... Some are still around, some have moved to greener pastures. And these guys are seriously an A-class bunch. You guys, I love all of you. Players, mods, hell, I will even love the anons who jumped on my case when I got lazy and discouraged. I just... can't express how many feelings I have right now.
This was a very amazing two years. And no matter how many times this game makes me flip, I'm really appreciative that you've all allowed me to mod this game and play with you for the past two years. You've all been great help in some form or another. This game has gone through many changes, and it's sure not the same chaotic little bundle of Route as it was during the first half a year, because it's no longer little.
Now it's a bigger chaotic bundle of holy pokés Route 29!!
